《埃尔加：杰隆修斯之梦》埃尔加（Edward Elgar，1857－1934），英国作曲家，自幼随父亲学钢琴与小提琴，异常勤奋，主要靠自学掌握了多种乐器的演奏，尤以小提琴见长。1885年承父业任伍斯特教堂风琴手。他的音乐真实自然，富于创新精神，对英国音乐的发展很有促进。他的艺术毫不偏狭，思维极为宽广，曾受德国浪漫主义的影响，风格庄严而淳朴，英国人民把他看作是英国的贝多芬。
埃尔加的《e小调大提琴协奏曲》(Cello Concerto in e minor，Op 85)完成于1919年，也是埃尔加最后一部大型作品，这部协奏曲其实与他的两首交响曲一样，均属后期浪漫时代的雄伟巨作，堪称其晚年最佳的作品。这是一首挽歌式的作品，紧凑、简练带有幻灭的性质，这部作品与德沃夏克的《b小调大提琴协奏曲》并列为同类作品中最伟大的作品，成为埃尔加具有代表性的标志。
1937年7月6日，阿什肯纳吉出生于俄罗斯高尔基，四岁时启蒙。7岁时他巳经可以上台演奏海顿的钢琴协奏曲。他曾获得1955年的第五届“萧邦国际大赛”第2名、1956年的“伊丽莎白皇后大赛”首奖及1962年的“柴可夫斯基大赛”冠军。目前他则身兼柏林电台交响乐团首席指挥，伦敦皇家管弦乐团音乐总监与克利弗兰主要客席指挥。身为一位杰出的钢琴家与世界知名乐团的指挥，阿什肯纳吉的音乐总是能迅速掳获人心，带给聆赏者极大的震撼。
王健4岁起随父亲学习大提琴。在上海音乐学院就读时，他就被摄入著名纪录片《从毛泽东到莫扎特：伊萨克·斯特恩在中国》。斯特恩先生的鼓励与支持为他远赴美国进入耶鲁大学音乐学院铺平了道路，1985年他在一个特殊的课程里，师从著名大提琴家A·帕瑞索教授学习。
